Whole Sentence

I used to dress my no in a reason in a maybe later in a doctor’s note hand-sewn from thin cloth

so it arrived soft so nobody had to feel it land so I could call the softness kindness when mostly it was fear

I have stopped sewing

a no is a whole sentence it stands alone in the doorway it does not owe a receipt

the wanting never needed reasons so the not-wanting gets the same deal no trial date no pretty wrapping over the plain word

I don’t want to five words plain let it be a small animal alive and unexplained and mine

if that disappoints you carry it home yourself I am not the luggage
